Massachusetts-Based Cannabis Operator Unites West Coast Brand and Local Diversity and Inclusion Group to Raise Funds and Awareness

SOMERSET, Mass. (June 17, 2022) Solar Cannabis Co. (Solar) today announced partnership with the South Coast LGBTQ+ Network of New Bedford (The Network) in efforts to help raise funds and awareness of the organization’s mission to build and maintain a comprehensive support network for LGBTQ+ individuals and families across the age spectrum.

To celebrate Pride Month, Solar, affiliate brand Stone Road and the South Coast LGBTQ+ Network, have teamed up to make a positive impact on the local communities as it pertains to diversity and inclusion. The three organizations have shared values around the power of celebrating and fully-embracing individuals and groups from every place, background, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or religion.

“We are so humbled and thrilled to be working with both Solar Cannabis Co. and Stone Road this year, “ said Kerry Zeida, Director of Marketing for the South Coast LGBTQ+ Network. To find such commonalities between our organizations and to be working together on a number of different projects to help us reach our goals and instill a positive impact within our local communities.

While many brands view Pride Month as a marketing opportunity, LGBTQ+-owned Stone Road prioritizes diversity and representation as part of the brand’s DNA 365 days a year. Stone Road celebrates with diverse, inclusive, and provocative brand imagery that resonates especially with women and the LGBTQ+ communities, paving the way for a more inclusive cannabis industry.

“At Solar, we put strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion of all groups. It’s a core part of our mission, vision and values here,” said Derek Gould, Director of Marketing at Solar Cannabis Co. “Aligning Stone Road (an LGBTQ+-owned brand) with The Network is something that makes a lot of sense to us. We need to help empower mission-driven organizations like The Network that do so much for our local communities.”

Given the recent launch into the MA Market, Solar will use Stone Road as the vehicle to help raise funds for and awareness of The Network. During the month of June, Solar will donate a portion of sales from Stone Road products to help fund The Network’s new corporate headquarters in New Bedford.

Solar, Stone Road and The Network will kick off the partnership by holding two outdoor pop-ups at Solar’s retail outlets in Somerset at 1400 Brayton Point Rd. on Thursday, June 23 (3pm-6pm) and in Seekonk at 1735 Fall River Ave. on Friday, June 24 (3pm-6pm).
